Radiology and imaging services at GEM HOSPITAL CHENNAI offers a range of diagnostic services and radiology based therapies for the patients.

Our radiologists, nurse-practitioners and technicians are trained in performing all radiological studies and also in special techniques and equipments for the image guided procedures for treatment of the patients. Every test and procedure performed is well organized and the results are accurate; it is the togetherness of the team that brings out great results.

Our department is equipped with

State of the art 16 slice MDCT.
Two high resolution ultrasound machines with special probes (Transrectal and laparoscopic ultrasound probes).
Liver elastography with ARFI in USG.
500 mA X-RAY machine.
High end C-ARM with inbuilt DSA for angiography.
Portable ultrasound and X-RAY machines.

Our department conducts following procedures

All Plain X-RAY studies (including portable).
Conventional X-RAY procedures which includes Barium swallow, Barium meal follow through, Barium enema,Gastrograffin study to look for bowel leak.
Ultrasound procedures which includes study of abdomen, chest, neck, Doppler study of abdomen, upper and lower limbs and scrotum.
Special ultrasound studies which includes Transrectal ultrasound, Elastography of liver and On table intra operative laparoscopic ultrasounds.
CT plain and contrast studies of abdomen, chest, brain, neck, all angiograms which includes cerebral, pulmonary, abdominal and peripheral angiograms.
Organ transplant imaging which includes CT liver attenuation index, hepatic angiogram with volume reconstruction, renal angiogram, intra op and post op liver and renal transplant Doppler studies.

Ultrasound guided ascitic and pleural tapping.
Ultrasound and CT guided aspiration of intra abdominal collections.
Ultrasound and CT guided drainage of liver abscess, renal abscess, infected pseudocysts, necrosis and post op collections.
Ultrasound guided FNAC of thyroid nodule, lymph nodes, omental nodules and breast lesions.
Ultrasound and CT guided liver biopsy, renal biopsy, breast biopsy, omental biopsy, pancreatic lesion and intra abdominal lymph node biopsy.
Percutaneous transhepatic biliary drainage with stenting.
Image guided percutaneous nephrostomy.
